I’ve been pinned!

…Now what?

  1. Laugh. This is silly and laughable. (Cue your laughter.) Maybe you got pinned with red-white-and-blue ‘murica pin or maybe it was there-are-too-many-googly-eyes-on-here pin. Whichever pin it was, it happened, and we’re moving past it.
  2. Plan. Okay, so you got pinned, but it won’t happen again. In fact, you need to know someone else is just as susceptible to a pinning as you were. Think about who and where you want to pin someone. Maybe it’s your annoying coworker Jane, or maybe just a random Joe schlub on the subway. Either way, the world is your clothesline.
  3. Pin. So here’s where it gets fun. Grasp that funky clothespin and without the person knowing clip the pin to their article of clothing or other personal item. Be respectful of others’ personal space. Assault isn’t cool and we’re not okay with it – so neither should you.
  4. Document. Awesome. Nice pinning. (Self-high-five!) But if a pin gets clipped and no one takes a picture, is it actually pinned? So, yeah, take a picture you sneaky pinner! Then upload/send it here! We know these pins have some incredible wanderlust – show us!
  5. [Optional] You got caught. Oops. So, yeah, that happened … If someone catches you mid-clipping don’t sweat it. You can play it off like nothing happened, but a true mensch owns up to their actions. You can print off a few of these in advance to let us explain it for you. Or, tell them, you’re on a game show and now it’s their turn to try and pin a stranger.

Why does this exist?

Well, why does anything exist? But let’s not get too metaphysical here. The short answer: We don’t know. The long answer: One drunken night — the beginning of most either amazing or truly awful ideas … I found a binder clip on the floor and without hesitating clipped the back of my girlfriend’s shirt. She walked around for hours before finally noticing.

This got us thinking “couldn’t the world use a little more silly?” If you guessed, “yes,” you’re right! And poof, the idea for justbeenpinned.com was born.
